MY BIO

Noella is a highly experienced voice-over artist, author, and singer with more than 20 years of expertise in voice-over, voice acting, and jingles. Her versatile voice has graced TV commercials, documentaries, and trailers aired on Channel News Asia, as well as corporate videos for major global brands like Singapore Airlines, SilkAir, Lufthansa, Qatar Airways, and Vogue Eyewear. Her extensive portfolio also includes work for prestigious names such as Bosch, Tiffany, Ponds, Pampers, Similac, and leading banks like Standard Chartered, HSBC, Barclays, Citibank, DBS, and UOB. Noella has lent her voice to iconic tourism campaigns like Malaysia Truly Asia, Taiwan Touch Your Heart, Seoul Infinitely Yours, and Vietnam Hidden Charm, as well as luxury resorts like Resorts World Sentosa, Gardens by the Bay, and Marriott International.

In the realm of voice acting, Noella shines as the lead character, 'Ollie', in the CG animated series Ollie and Friends (Season 5). She’s also portrayed a variety of characters in different accents for Leo the Wildlife Ranger (Season 2), which has an international release on ZooMoo. Additionally, Noella voices one of the lead characters, 'Josie', in the audio series Singapore Six, a collaboration between IMDA and Audible.

Her talent has earned her international acclaim, including a nomination for Best Voice Over, Outstanding Body of Work, International at the Voice Arts Awards 2020 (SOVAS) in New York. Noella won the Best Voice Over, Animation and Dubbing English at the India Voice Fest 2022, and Best Voice Over, Corporate Film English Female in 2020. Her voice credits span short films and animated TV series that have won prestigious accolades, including The Hollywood Film Festival, Cannes Lions Award, Giffoni Film Festival, Richmond International Film Festival, and the Asian Academy Creative Awards.

Noella’s voice has the power to bring scripts to life, infusing them with the perfect blend of emotion and connection to resonate with audiences. With a neutral English accent, her voice is deep, soothing, and rich in texture, capable of evoking gravitas or creating a warm sense of trust. Known for her versatility, Noella excels in voice acting, able to deliver a wide range of characters across different English accents and age groups—from young children to seniors.

MY STORY...........HOW IT STARTED.............HOW IT'S GOING..........

I started my career with jingles. I remember hearing back my vocals in that fabulous acoustic studio on those crystal clear monitors and I felt my own hair stand on end. I remember thinking to myself, "Wow! This is thrilling - I’d love to be able to do this full time…. getting paid to have fun". But of course I had to make a living and decided a corporate job was more stable and perhaps better paying….so I joined a full time 9-5 job and continued to do jingles as my side hustle. In fact, we were side hustling when the term wasn’t even trending at that time. I knew I wanted to turn my hobby into a profession after that studio experience but the jobs were few and far between. So I joined a band….a rock band…wore leather pants and sang 'Black Velvet' and songs like ‘I hate myself for loving you’ - It was fun! The thrill of a live audience is something else.

I was talent spotted by one of my judges at a singing competition and he offered to form a girl band with other talented female vocalists. It was called 'Pink Champagne'. We did photoshoots, traveled the country doing live gigs with synchronised dancing and singing and were touted as India’s answer to the ‘Spice girls’. I remember entering Lucknow, a city in North India for a concert and seeing our larger than life size billboard as we drove past. We had body guards at the show even and were interviewed and featured in the ‘Times of India’ and ‘Midday’ news papers. In your early twenties....It was like living the dream literally.

Meanwhile, I had job hopped to Telecom and then to the Animation Industry. I was a business manager and was also involved in producing short animated films with a team of creatives. That’s when I was introduced to the fascinating world of Voice Acting. I’m so glad I found this creatively challenging world. We worked on a short film ‘Haptics’ that went on to win top honours at the Hollywood Film Festival. I played multiple roles in that short including the lead. She was a slothful, morbidly obese woman who had become utterly dependant on machines and technology and virtual reality that it eventually held her prisoner. With AI upon us now….the film was way ahead of its time.

I've had the opportunity to work with leading MNC Clients, Iconic brands, and on popular Tourism Campaigns. I’ve played a multitude of characters from young sprightly and spirited little boys and girls to teenagers to young women, evil witches, demonesses, zombies to old women and even had the opportunity to play a King! Yeah! A gender swap role. It’s amazing what you can pull off with your voice and a little tweak here and there with technology.

Voice acting has its own challenges because you’re not playing off another actors emotions and lines as you do in theatre on stage or in live action films - usually you’re imagining it and reacting on your own - as it’s just you and the script. While it can be an isolating profession without much limelight or fame coz it’s a behind the scenes kinda gig - it has its own draw… if you’re intimated by the camera or the stage and a live audience, if you feel you might forget your lines or you feel body conscious being shy by nature….voice acting is made for that hidden actor in you! You can let those emotions come rolling out of you as you bring characters alive with just your voice.

You don’t even need to have a fantastic, resonant, rich or deep voice to get into voice acting. Sure! Those voices are great for commercials, documentaries or corporate videos.. But for character acting it’s not about the perfect voice. It’s about expressing emotions and feelings in the most natural way without any contrivance at all.
